1. What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files your browser stores for a website. Local storage is similar browser storage that persists between visits. ConCost uses both, sparingly, for essential functionality — not for ad tracking.
2. What we use today
| Name / type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Auth token (localStorage) | Keeps you signed in after login | Until you sign out or clear site data |
| Session cookies | Security and request integrity for the API | Session / short-lived |
| Preference storage | Remember UI choices where applicable | Persistent until cleared |
Guest marketing pages (home, features, demo, legal pages) do not require cookies beyond what your browser stores by default. Signing in uses the auth token described above.
3. What we do not use
- Third-party advertising or retargeting cookies.
- Social media tracking pixels on the authenticated application.
- Cross-site profiling of your takeoff or estimate content.
4. Analytics
We may add privacy-respecting usage analytics in the future to understand which features help estimators most. If we do, we will update this page and, where required, ask for consent before non-essential cookies are set.
5. Managing cookies
You can clear cookies and site data from your browser settings at any time. Signing out removes the auth token from local storage. Clearing storage will log you out and may reset local preferences.
Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies entirely. Essential cookies for login may still be required to use the authenticated app.
